Belgium restricts advertising of gambling

The Belgian authorities have significantly restricted advertising of all gambling since June 1, 2019, introducing amendments to the gambling law for operators of the gambling market legally operating in Belgium. These amendments were adopted last fall.
According to the new rules, operators of the gambling market with licenses of categories A + and B +, legally operating in Belgium, will not be allowed to broadcast TV advertisements from June 1. Also, these rules apply to land-based gambling establishments, including halls with devices. Operators with these licenses can advertise their services exclusively on websites that have previously received special licenses from the Belgian Gambling Commission.
The same reports that operators of the Belgian gambling market with category F + licenses can advertise their services only after 20:00. In addition, according to the new rules, bookmakers (BC) are prohibited from advertising their services during various sporting events on television.
